Salary:

Job Summary:

The primary objective of the Worship Director is responsible for the worship ministry at SPHAC (including but not limited to traditional, English, youth ministry, NextGen and children’s ministry). In consultation with the senior pastor, staff and worship team members, the Worship Director develops and implements this ministry in a way that is consistent with the vision, goals, mission, values, and theology of the SPHAC. This person will lead our worship services, helping us provide a biblical and authentic worship experience. A person with strong spiritual leadership and administrative skills, good communication skills, organization skills, developing others, and leading a worship team will thrive in this role.

 

Qualification:

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Able to sing in Hmong and English.

  • Able to provide spiritual leadership and discipleship to the congregation and to the worship ministry; lead in prayer, guide discussions and offer spiritual insight to biblical worship and musical selections.

  • Work along Pastors with funeral songs choices. Lead, assist and or find people to lead congregant into songs at funerals.

  • Teach music lessons such as piano, guitar and other instruments to students (both young and old).

  • During praise and worship, must sing in both Green and White dialect to accommodate congregation.

  • Able to produce and direct special musical events and programs (e.g. Christmas, VBS, funerals, etc.).

  • Participate in the planning of all service(s) with the senior and/or preaching pastor and other staff.

  • Lead and direct the Sunday Worship Teams.

  • Participate in appropriate in-service and workshop programs and attend required staff meetings.

  • Recruit, coordinate, empower, train, lead, and supervise the volunteers in the worship ministry.

  • Integrate and cultivate strong fellowship with and among the worship teams. Able to bring people together and does not show favoritism

  • Cultivating and maintaining good relationships with pastors, staff, volunteers, and the congregation.

  • The ability to work with and cultivate worshipers of different skill levels.

  • Punctual: showing up to set-up, ensuring practice flows in a timely manner, giving worship team music and music samples in a timely manner so that worship team members can have time to practice and prepare their hearts, minds, and souls before rehearsal.

  • Develop and schedule teams of instrumentalists and vocalists.

  • Coordinate, Organize, Communicate, and lead worship team rehearsals.

  • Assist in the recommendation/ordering/installation of updated or new technology related to worship.

  • Be a liaison and work with the production of sound and video team to ensure the setting up of the sound board, lighting, etc., based on the format and requirements of the worship services.

  • Work closely with the Director of Sound and Video to ensure worship services run smoothly.

  • Develop operational budget and long-term capital needs to keep worship technology, music andinstruments up to date.

  • Complete quarterly reports and budget proposals, plans and implementation.

  • Lead, plan and be present, engaged, and available during all worship services.

  • Understands and balances the needs of the traditional service, english ministry, youth ministry and Children’s Ministry.

  • Ensure music databases (e.g. Planning Center) are accurate, up-to-date and streamlined.

  • Set annual goals for the worship ministry that are in line with SPHAC.

  • All other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

  • Must abide and adhere to Christian and Missionary Alliance doctrines and leadership standards.

  • Highschool diploma or GED required.

  • Bachelor's degree in Music with an emphasis on church music preferred.

  • Five years music experience in a music church-related setting preferred.

  • Passionate, gifted and experience leading worship.

  • Able to write, speak, and sing in both English and Hmong.

  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills.

  • Knowledge or ability to learn and be proficient in necessary software programs (e.g. PlanningCenter Online software, ProPresenter, Podio, etc.)

  • Self-starter and visionary.

  • Leader but also team-oriented, open to ideas.

  • Dependable, responsible, adaptable/flexible, and creative. Musical Competencies and Physical Demands:

  • Knowledge and experience with a wide range of Christian music genres/styles, includingtraditional Christian hymns as well as contemporary music.

  • Able to lead worship music for all worship services, contemporary and traditional service in both Hmong and English.

  • Strong good vocal health and musicianship.

  • The ability to play an instrument.

  • Ability to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time. Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 40 pounds.
